Judging & Scoring
Crowned Prince & Princess Charm Scoring:
Contestants are judged on beauty, poise, personality, and stage presence in each category of competition which determines a contestants overall score. Scoring for the pageant competition is based on the following:
- Beauty
- Poise
- Stage Presence
- Overall Appearance
- Casualwear
- Interview (3 and Up)
** This does not include how specialty awards will be judged.**
Scoring is based on a scale of 1- 10. Due to subjectivity in scoring, the competition will also have a ballot component. This is where a judge would list the contestant’s name and number that did the best overall in each age division. In the event there is a tie this method will be used as an alternative to the cumulative score.
Criteria for Scoring Optional Categories
New! Western Wear - Put on your cowboy hat, boots and get kicking for the Western Wear competition. Contestants are judged on beauty, poise, appearance and stage presence.
New! 1950’s Wear - Let’s go back into a much simpler time of dungarees, poodle skirts and the scarf. Contestants are judged on beauty ,poise, appearance, and stage presence.
Overall Supreme Title - Two Overall Supreme Titles will be awarded to the two contestants with the highest cumulative score of the day. You must register for this optional in order to be considered.
Photogenic - At picture in color or black and white. Scoring will be based on age appropriateness, personality, and photogenic qualities.
Interview - Contestants will be scored on their interview abilities that are appropriate for their age and maturity level. The interview will consist of a five minute discussion with the judges. Contestants will be judged on intelligence, sincerity, honesty, good diction.
Academic - This competition is solely based on grades. Contestants will need to bring their report card for the judges review. Since the pageant is in the summer, a report card from the previous year will suffice.
Community Service - This award is designed for those ages 13 and up. Contestants in this category will need to write a 1 page synopsis on their activities in their community as a civic leader.
Derby Wear - Show us what you would wear to the Kentucky Derby.
Glamour - Category that is judged on facial beauty only.
Essay - Who has inspired you the most? The essay category will be judged on appropriateness for age level, grammar, spelling, sincerity, and overall understanding of the question. The essay should be no more than 3 pages 12 point font. It should be turned in at pageant registration.
Pageant Awareness Award - The contestant that has proven to have made the most public appearances at events. Contestants being at least 3 pictures with them for judging.
